AKAI HD Monitor Can't Post

Hi folks,

My name is Scotty and I'm new to the message board. I eventually want to get a high quality 50" HDTV... but for now, want something small just to get started. I found an AKAI HD Monitor (model #PT4299HD from Circuit City).

There are 90 something reviews from the CC website -- most give it a good rating and great value, since the unit is under $900.

My issue is -- in reading the specs, I see there is no DVI or HDMI inputs and they are somewhat vague about what IS there. It says:

# A/V inputs (composite) 3 S-video inputs 1 Component video inputs 2 DVI (Digital Video Interface) No HDMI inputs No VGA/SVGA input No CableCard No # HD component video inputs Info unavailable # RF inputs 1

What do you guys think of this? The link to the unit is: http://www.circuitcity.com/...ccd/productDetail.do

Thanks in advance!

Scotty "K"

Re: [KantroSAK] AKAI HD Monitor [In reply to] Can't Post

I would avoid this set because of =
Who would repair it since it's a offbrand
How hard and how long would it take to get parts.
How long would it keep a good picture,1-2 years.

If you have the money I would look at
Mitsubishi 55315 at Best Buy or sears

hitachi 51 at Circuit City

Should be able to catch these sets on sale for less than $1500.

Then you have a set with some resale value.
Parts should be no problem or repairs.

If your at your max of $1000 look at walmart for the Panny rear projections sets.

Thanks for your reply. Can you tell me how this AKAI set is an HD Monitor without DVI inputs? How else does the TV connect with the HD cable box??

Thanks!

The older model hd rear projection use component video cables to connect for hd.

The newer ones use either dvi or hdmi connections.

Rgb and vega are some other hd connections used on some hd monitors.
