Accessing AV! on My Remote	Can't Post

I have a 32" Insignia HD TV with a cable box attached. I can turn on the TV and cable box with my supplied cable box remote, but in order to record of of my VCR/DVD player I must use the Insignia remote to get me to Video(AV-!). My TV remote has died, I put in new batteries and she stiill does not work, I have tried accessing the code for my TV and that does not work so I assume (always risky) that my remote is indeed dead. How to I get to my Video (AV-1) function , do I need a new universal remote that I must recode?

What I hear is that I need a new remote, and I suspected that as all functions suddenly stopped working. I have a Insignia NS-3C02U-10a ad do not see that listed anywhere, but I do see a NS-RC01G-09 and it looks just like the one I now have but different model #
