Earphone jack that's supposed to be there ISN'T - now what? Can't Post

I have a Dynex DX-32L152A11 Rev A flat-screen TV. I want to plug earphones into it. The user's manual says to just plug it in to the earphone jack on the side of the TV. But there IS no jack there, only a few buttons (channel up, channel down, volume up, volume down, etc.). But on the BACK of the TV, there IS a "Digital audio out" jack for a co-axial cable. Can I use that instead, with some kind of co-ax to earphones adapter?

P.S. As far as I know, this TV is not Bluetooth-compliant.

Thanks for any help
