External HD receiver for cable??? Can't Post

For a guy who has loved technology and A/V for this many years, I can't believe this is such a difficult thing for me to get an answer for.

It seems like every LCD and plasma TV sold in recent years has an onboard receiver that can handle both analog and digital signals.

My question for you guys is this:

I have a media room where one of my viewing choices is a 1080 projector AND an LCD TV. The LCD set has an onboard receiver and I get all the unscrambled HD digital signals and looks great. For the projector (with no onboard source) I am forced to watch only analog SD channels via its tuner. Is there an external tuner comparable to what seems to be built in to every modern television???

I'm surprised how baffling this has been for me.

So I'd like to watch those HD channels via my cable feed and NOT over the air.

PLEASE help me. This has been very frustrating.

Thanks in advance.

Mike
