Grandma needs some help Can't Post

UnsureI'm looking for help on selecting a new TV. I want a flat screen, 37-45 inches, wall-mountable. I live in an area where there is NO TV reception, so I have to use DirecTV (or similar) - and still only get a signal in the winter when the leaves are off the trees. My eyesight isn't perfect, so ED looks as good to me as HD. I don't care whether I have plasma or LCD. Since I have to use DirecTV, I'd think I'm o.k. with a monitor rather than a TV, but there don't seem to be many out there - am I looking in the right places or are options quite limited?

Bottom line - what do you young folks recommend for a flat screen, 37-45" ED monitor - assuming I've got it right what I need. I can upgrade to an HD DirecTV box if that helps. I don't want the "black box lines" around my picture all the time.

And Granny's got 3 grandchildren about to head to college, so let's keep the prices down! Thanks for your suggestions.

A few options

http://www.visualapex.com/...RD50A&MFR=Optoma $1499 50" DLP

If you don't want black bars, you adjust the format. With a button on the remote control of tv set.
