Sd pq is the main difference. Also it's the 3rd year model, each year get's more dependable.

5 weeks isn't that long for a tv that last 15-20years.Just keep replacing the bulb when it dies, and it look as good as day one with new bulb.

You have made your decision, that's hardest part.

Sit back and enjoy.

Re: [TANK1] Is this a good deal? [In reply to] Can't Post

I went through with it and actually bought the tv from the powerbuy & am happy now that i did it. At least now I know I have a dependable tv that wasnt opened before me. Im planning on keeping this best buy tv for about the full 30 and then spending a couple days with no tv before finally the hlp5063w comes. The only thing im still remotely confused about is the warranty. I know you mentioned one earlier and im going to look into that, but when do you think i should purchase it? Also, I didnt want to go with the tva warranty because id also have to get a stand that i dont need.

The set comes with a one year warranty from Samsung, which covers everything.

Wait 6-7 months and add a Warrentech RMT 45000 warranty. These warranties go on sale every of months,so check the website of the place you bought the tv from for a sale price.

Also you get the best pq when you connect (sat box, cable box, dvd) by dvi.

Any questions on how to hook-up something or anything else, glad to help.

Re: [TANK1] Is this a good deal? [In reply to] Can't Post

Im already in the process of getting a monster dvi 400 cord for my dvd player.

Im probably going with the Warrentech RMT 45000 warrenty but ill keep an eye out for sales and what not. Do you think its risky at all to wait the 6-7 months to get the warrenty?

By the way I found out my tv should be here the 14th which is only like 2 weeks! The powerbuy was an awesome idea.

If you have any more recommendations id be glad to hear them.

One last thing, im going to have a VCR, DVD, XBOX, & Gamecube all hooked up to this tv.

Call the company who sold you the tv and ask for a discount on the warranty.

If no discount, check the website every few of weeks foe a sale,or just buy the warranty now.A sale price is only going to be about $40 off.

For a dvi cable checkout www.bluejeanscable.com good prices and excellant quality cables. I would use them over Monster.

This is Fenz4Ever, i just dont want to log-in on this computer. Anyways...

Does TVAuthority have a good warranty plan? Otherwise I was going to go with that Warrentech plan you had earlier mentioned. I figured I have a couple months to check these over.

Im going to be able to get some monster dvi 400 for $60 (down from the 100 they sell at best buy new) so do you think its a good deal?

Also, I just got a call from TVA that my tv will be shipping next week already! This is all working out great.

TV Authority warranty is a Warrentech Warranty, make sure you get the 4 year warranty. That gives the first year from Samsung and the next 4 years from Warrentech, for a total of 5 years of coverage.

$60 is a fair price for the dvi cable.

Glad to hear your set is shipping so soon.

At TVA the warrantech warranty costs like 250. Wasnt there another site that had it for 175?

$175 was a two warranty rmt 25000,the 4 year was on sale at tv authority for $198 when the power buy first started.Call them and say when you ordered your tv you forget to get the warranty.Ask what discount they will give you since you bought the the tv from them, mention you belong to the avs forum.

$250 for a 4 year warranty,that's only $63 a year for the warranty.

Warrenties go on sale every few months.

So if they will not give me a discount on the warranty right now do you think i should wait a few months before purchasing it or get it now anyways?

It's up to you.The tv is covered by Samsung for the first year.

You have to decide if maybe saving $40 is worth looking up the price of the warranty every other week or just buy it now and not have to worry. The cost of the warranty is fair at the price they have.

Ok Tank i hope your still there man because i still have some questions coming...

-I'm not sure if I read it wrong or not, but I think on like efuncitonal & TV Authority that the warrantech warrantys dont start until after the samsung warranty ends which would mean im getting 5 years of service, wouldnt it?

-Also, how do you check to see if the warranty doesnt cover bulb replacement? I searched through a couple warrantys and none mentioned if the bulb replacement was covered or not. It just said it coveres parts & replacements.

The tv should be coming soon and it looks like efunctional has a cheaper price by like $2 so i might just go ahead and get a warranty now so i dont ever forget.

I'am still here.I live in Florida and lost power for the last 3 days,no damage just 3 lousy days.

Yes the warranty will be for a total of 5 years.

Spend the extra $2 and buy from TV Authority, since you bought the tv from them. The more you buy from them keeps the deals for the future going.

Call and ask if bulb is covered,99.9% sure it dosen't.Samsung covers it for the first year with a bulb replacement.
