Newbie - Need alot of help picking flat wall mountable tv. Can't Post

Ok guys im in the market for about a 42" or more television. It needs to be flat and wall mountable. I saw one at walmart for 1699 but forgot the brand. What are some good choices and whats the diff between high def, lcd, ect? And does it really matter? I just really need the basics. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hd is a 720p,1080p,or 1080i signal.

Ed is a 480p signal.(Dvd signal)

You want HD not ED.

Things to consider when purchasing a tv

Where to get service from if a repair is needed.Do you have to ship and pay shipping costs?Do you just return it the store and wait for them to ship it?

Is a service tech avaiable for a in home visit? What about parts?Do you have to wait for them to shipped?

LCD is a type of set.Plasma,DLP,and CRT are other types of sets.

That plasma is made by these guys.

Founded in 1918 & headquartered in Taiwan, Tatung Company (www.tatung.com) is a worldwide leader in the design and manufacturing of a vast array of digital consumer products, including consumer PCs, LCD TVs PDPs, network-connected devices, storage-based media players, videophones and home appliances. Tatung also delivers advanced products for business computing, such as Tablet PCs, blade servers and wireless thin clients. For industrial products, Tatung has well-established power and energy businesses

They seem like a computer monitor maker more than a plasma tv maker.

Look for pioneer, samsung, panasonic etc for plasma's.

You get a better set for money if you don't need a set that is wall mountable.

A LCD or DLP would be a better buy in that price area.

That is a ED plasma. It will take a HD signal and down convert to 480p.

So you are not getting a true HD picture. Not trying to be nasty,I just want to make sure you know what you are buying.

If a ED picture meets your needs, then this a good plasma.
