wega vs bravia with standard directtv Can't Post

I currently own a Sony kv-32FS120 wega big tube TV that I bought in 2005. I have the standard direct tv signal (not HD) and i'm pleased with the great picture I get. But, I'm one who wants the best quality picture that I can afford without paying extra for the HD signal. Would a 40inch Sony bravia LCD TV give me better picture quality with just the standard digital signal than my big tube?...in other words is spending $900-$1200 for a Lcd Sony gonna get me an even better picture?

I would agree. You would have to go up to a plasma to get a better picture. Why would you not want to get HD programming though?
