Can't Decide, Please Help!!! Can't Post

I am going to be purchasing a new television within the next few months, hopefully. I have searched Best Buys website and found a 1080p LCD Dynex $548 . I have read nothing but great reviews about it. I have also found the following:
- 37" Panasonic Veira S1 Series LCD 1080p 60hz $598 (sams club)
- 50" LG Plasma 720p 600hz Television $698 (brandsmart usa/ Atlanta Ga)
- 42" lcd 1080p Dynex 60hz $548 (which is listed in the top paragraph)
This is all I have found interest in right now, still looking though. If it were your money which would you spend it on?
- Which is better, LCD or Plasma?
- What exactly does the hz mean?
- Is 60 bad?
- What effect does the hz have on the picture quality?
I will mostly be watching satelite television, don't have any type HD box or whatever you have to have for HD
- I will be playing the occasional video games such as COD4, NCAA 2010, and racing games all on the xbox 360 and watching an occassional movie. Which television would be best suited for that type thing?
- The living room right now is small, approx 12 x 18-20
Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

only one name in LCD and that's Panasonic. Plasma is yesterday's technology. If I was you I would check out the pictures in a local store because some customers reckon the higher Hz versions cause picture blur on some images if you don't watch in HD. I have a 37'' Panasonic in a room approx the same size as you and it looks great, even on SD transmissions.
