Guys:

I just ordered a JVC LT-52P789 52" Class 1080p Flat Panel LCD with TeleDock iPod Docking Station from 6th ave electronics for what looks to be a good deal.

I got it for $1155.00 tax and shipping included. After looking around...I notice that the contrast ration is only 2000:1 on this TV. I noticed that others have a contrast ratio of 50,000:1.

Is this why the TV is so cheap? Is this a excellent picture quality. I have time to cancel this by Monday if I want.

Please comment on this TV before monday morning.

well i guess you have the answer of your own question that why it is soo cheap...anyways if you have not bought yet i will suggest you not to buy it and cancel the order..
why dont you tell us your range and we will suggest you the best tv..
you want an LCD or PLASMA?

Actually.....I did buy it.....I looked up contrast ratio and found out it was not a factor at all..but bogus hype by the manufacturers who stretched the truth. It only has to do with black and white contrast. lol....I can see that you had no idea as well.\

You better grab this deal before its too late.

Well...don't have it yet...i was only asking an expert for their opinion on the contrast ratio....no experts answered so I googled it myself. It doesn't mean anything according to articles..except that is the depth of color for black and white.

Knowing that has nothing to do with JVC. All TV's use parts from similar distributors and all you are paying for is the name. JVC is a decent name....but you would pay more for a SONY. This TV MSRP is $3100 and the average price is $2200 retail. This deal was just a recession blow out sale by 6th Ave electronics to clear their inventory. My guess its probably $100 over invoice or so.

well all i know if there is a price difference there is a quality difference also,this is for sure,and if sony or any other company is charging more they are charging over quality.and well about the jvc i do not know how they work but i know they cant beat the sony or samsung as they are leaders in the technology.so nothing to fight about..every person have his own choice and brand.you are happy with jvc may you stay happy forever. Thats fine.....but if you buy a SONY ....all of your parts are now coming from China and Mexico....same as the JVC. So I will take my chances and save $1000 bucks.

actually saving 1000 dollar is good i will also like to do this but not over the quality.may b you do not have a idea about the technology difference or the quality difference.personally i will love to have samsung lcd and pioneer in plasma.so you enjoy with jvc and i will enjoy mine Wink

i know the comparison.there is a difference i told you before but it is not just because of the brand name.....just read out the features then you will know the difference of this....

ohh God....
there is a hell of difference.but it all depend on the seller i do not think that these seller are user friendly.well i m shocked as i always use nextag.com and never have a difference in the prices...

2000:1 contrast ratio = native contrast
50,000:1 contrast ratio =dynamic contrast
There's a big difference.....
