LCD or LCD LED? Can't Post

I have read up quite a bit about the difference between LCD and LCD LED however nothing actually tells me that i am going to see a noticeably better difference when watching average dvd's - not HD this and HD that. Its just such a big difference in price i want to be sure its worth it. I already know the advantages of LED:

· Consumes far less power than LCD and Plasmas
· Incredibly thin screen depth
· Very high contrast ratio
· Far more-accurate reproduction of deep blacks and bright whites
· Faster, clearer images
· Wider colour gamut with vibrant colours
· Wider viewing angle

But will these advantages make a dramatic difference - I dont do gaming or anything like that it will just be for watching dvds or tv. Please help!

Due to LED TV's using LED lights rather then the normal LCD florescent backlight, the TV's are also able to be much thinner with better heat dissipation.

Yes, the LED advantages you have already mentioned will make quite a difference in the long run. Don't forget that LED TVs also consume far less power than LCD TVs. Moreover life of LED TVs is also longer than LCD TVs.

It really is up to you. While LED does have it's advantages, it couldn't hurt to browse through some LCD TV's just to make sure you know what you want.

You are right. LED TVs immediately became popular and the LCD vs LED debate began. LED back-lit LCD TVs are still LCD TVs only they are using LED as back-lights. They are cheaper and also consumes less power but the picture quality is not as good as true Light Emitting Diode TVs.
