LG TV shuts off quickly after power on

Hello all. I have a LG 45" flat screen TV about 7 years old. For the past year the tv has been shutting down within a minute after powering on, and does this continually for a couple days, to a couple weeks. Then all of a sudden it works again and does so for a few weeks or month. Then goes back to shutting down again. I'm baffled as to what may be going on here. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
