Magnavox 17MD255V/17 color issues Can't Post

Hi everyone,
6 month old 17" LCD with built in DVD player when turned on it will come on in black and white. During the next 5 minutes there will be shades of color flickering in and out then it will have horizontal color lines (red and green) until the color comes in like normal. It does this almost every time I turn it on. During this 5 minute period I can switch it over to a DVD and it will be full color like normal so I am to believe that this only affects the "TV" portion.
Any help will be greatly appreciated as the TV only had a 3 month warranty Frown
Thanks,
Sean

Probably a bad scaler board.

Can you give me some details on this? Can it be replaced? Where can I get one?

I'm sure you mean a 3 month labor warranty. Most Magnavox/Philips units have a one year parts warranty.

You'll need to take that to an authorized service center in order to take advantage of the parts warranty. The only place you'll be able to get that board is from Philips in any case. I don't have their number or website. It's probably with the manual and information that came with the unit.

Its only a three month parts and labor warranty. I called to 2X check.

3 months? Man, I would've walked away from that one. If the manufacturer only has enough confidence in a piece of equipment to take responsibility for repairing it for 3 months it wasn't very good to begin with. You're only recourse is to contact Philips. I checked Vance Baldwin and the only parts they have available are the ac adaptor and the remote.

reading some of ther reviews on the Circuit city website regarding these smaller Magnavox LCD TV's there are more than a few opinions that they are junk. At least mine still works after the 5 minute warm up period and it does work fine as a DVD and a computer monitor.
Thanks for your help,
Sean

3 months is a LONG time in the life of a Philips.lucky it lasted that long.scaler pcb's are not available in Europe so the only answer is to return the pcb to a Philips appointed agent for repair
