Question on Samsung 8000 vs 8500 series

I just bought an open item series 8000 TV for $1700. However, doing more research on the 8500 television, I'm a little concerned that that was the TV I should have purchased. Is it really that much better than the 8000? I'm a casual television viewer, watching movies here and there and enjoying a little bit of daily TV shows. I also love playing video games often. Would an 8500 be worth the extra money? Anyone have any experience with a side-by-side comparison?
