Vizio Model VO47L power supply? Can't Post

I was given a Vizio LCD tv but it did not work. They did not want to bother so just bought a new one. I have very little experience with this stuff but figured why not try it myself. I opened it up and noticed several blown capacitors. put new ones in and still did not work. I then looked further and noticed 2 capacitors on each inverter board blown. I then replaced them if I remember correctly I used higher voltage ones like the tv shop suggested. I then tried to power it up and was happy that it turned on with a blue screen and seemed good for under 10 secs then suddenly POP and some smoke from power supply and it shut off. Am I correct to assume the power supply is just bad and not supplying the power to the correct areas? Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Jeff

Electrolytic capacitors inadvertently installed backwards WILL pop and smoke.

I was extra careful and thought I put it in correctly but I will double checked. The cap I installed is bulged at the top but it seemed like the smoke was coming from a copper coil(not sure what that part is)

IF cap IS installed correctly, PS could be running at too high of frequency causing DC at this cap to exceed its voltage rating .

thank you very much I will put a new one in this week one afternoon and see if that fixes it. Could a power surge or brown out have caused the problem in the first place?

Approx. '08 set. Old age.

I'd start by rechecking those caps first. the fact that you had a blue screen for a few seconds is a good sign.
