Ever since I hooked up an Onkyo home theatre system to my Sony XBR2, the picture goes dark for 2-3 seconds way to often...especially during sporting events, but also on dramas. What's up? Anyone heard of this?

Ok, help us more to distinguish the problem. When you noticed it that way with the onkyo hometheater. Have you tried disconnecting from the HT and see if the tv exibits same abnormality? I wouldn't call anything a problem yet unless some testing proves any of the input equals with the dimming. try that! and come back.
