Sharp Aquous LC46D64U blinking green power light Can't Post

Grabbed this free lcd for repair. Mostly play with vintage audio. Plugged it in and green power indicator blinks...about once a second. Tried the volume down and channel down at same time while plugging in no change in blinking green light. Tried several times. Started playing with it again and did get the green power light to go solid could hear relays latching. Screen was black but green power indicator was on solid. Thought maybe it needed an input signal, connected up DVD player with no change, screen black. At some point it went back to flashing green power indicator. Advice for next steps? Cover has been removed.

Ok realize now its pressing volume up and channel down at same time while plugging in which allows tv to power up and the green power led to stay lit. From what I have read should check all the FET's on the inverter board/boards?

Power LED or OPC LED or a combination of both?

Without screen - How do you tell which Input is selected?

ERR_PNL (pin 43): L failure. Confirmed after 10 consecutive
matches at 500 ms intervals (detected only when the backlight
is on).
Note that after five match counts, the lamp cannot be activated
except in the monitoring process. (For the first time,
only the inverter is reset, and error OFF is not activated)
Accumulated counts are cleared to 0 when the corresponding
setting in the process A is made or when the power is turned
on with [CH_DOWN] and [VOL_UP] on the unit down or after
continuous illumination for 3 minutes.

Only the green power led is flashing approximately 1 flash per second. I have read that in the reset mode, when green power led is on solid, take a flashlight to the dark screen and if images are seen then the back lights not powering on are the problem.

Will try this after menu button is pressed hopefully seeing the menu image using the flashlight?

I do not know what input mode the tv is in.
If the menu button is pressed that would put an image on the screen independant of input selections.

Will check the 8 FET's on the inverter boards with power cord unplugged. Assume testing them in circuit is okay?

Depending on which version of Inverter board(s) are present, Fuses, Capacitors, Transformers & Bulbs themselves can also go bad.

The previous owner mentioned that a couple years back the main board was replaced. Looking at the shield hardware I see one screw missing and an incorrect screw used as well. Will remove cover on main board and check all connections.

Before I go off on to the inverter boards will focus on the power supply board first.

when the tv gets reset and the green power led is solid, will measure the outputs of the power supply board.

interested in the two 60VDC outputs to the inverter board and a 5V output required for standby that I read about somewhere?
Shouldn't the tv go into standby when it powers off and a red led is exhibited?

Am aware of the electrolytics, transformers, bulb connections, and bulbs.

Got a few minutes to take voltage measurements on the power board .
Plugged tv in and the green power led was not flashing, heard relay latch, and a red led on the main board flashed on and off. Checked for 5V and it was present. Pressed the power button and the green power led lit solid. Measured all voltages on the power board as present and good except the 15V that goes to the terminal board. Its marked UR15 and has the arrow pointing to it with WS written in the arrow. At some point during this i heard a relay and the green power led started flashing.

Now confirm all necessary voltages are reaching whichever Inverter boards the set uses. You are aware that that set has used varying board numbers for at least the Main and the Inverters.

Any concern for what i think is a missing 15V to the terminal board?

Tomorrow will check for 60V at the inverterl boards.

Service literature does show it (UR15V) being used by the Terminal board.

Where are the schematics available? I was on another thread on this forum and someone had an image of a schematic?

I have a service manual but i dont believe it has any schematics.

Got a few minutes did verify that 60V is present on the inverter boards. I had downloaded one of the copies of the service manual. In this copy there is no schematic for the power board.

Couldnt help myself...walking by tv this morning heading to work disconnected both inverters from psu and reset tv and plugged each inverter in one at a time. Nothing learned except by the arc of the 60VDC its there available to the inverters.

I have not performed the flashlight test, should that be my next step...and what do I learn from it? Still wondering why the UR15V to the terminal board isnt available?

looking quickly at the psu board layout it looks like this is the same ur15v present at the main board connector on the psu board?

is it possible to havee attachments?

Re: [rfitts46] Sharp Aquous LC46D64U blinking green power light [In reply to] Can't Post

Read this off of a thread in this forum:

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-46D64U stand by with new boards!

I recently narrowed a the problem down to a bad inverter board on the 52 inch model. The main inverter board actually send a feedback to the main board if it detects anything wrong on itself or the other 3 boards. One of the 4 pin connector (LB) that comes off the main to the first inverter board is the (error) signal that looks for 3v when everything is good. I was actually able to take the other conductor 3v power to the inverter, split it off and jumper it to the error conductor. This faked the tv into thinking inverters were good. Holding the VOL down and input button I powered it up and everything came on and stayed on... I could then see flicking on one side on the secondary inverter board which was the culprit. Long story short. By bypassing the error signal on the inverters andthe tv working told me that it was indeed the inverters. See link.

Was thinking of trying this.

The 15V is present for the terminal board....it was actually one pin over from where i thought it was.

I removed the LCD ribbon cable to the T Con board and was able to get the bottom of the tv to light up.

It seems to point to an inverter board issue?
Assume the top inverter boards feed the top half of the tv while the slave inverters feed the bottom?

Which version Tcon board? Which ribbon cable?

Inverters are only responsible for lighting the CCFL bulbs.

The big wide ribbob cable. Brown colored. Connector labeled LFa. I will remove the shield to get version.

White sticker on it labeled 76-A019223 U

CPWBX3829TPXA vs. CPWBX3829TPXJ

I think you meant LW (or CN4804).

Re: [jts1957] Sharp Aquous LC46D64U blinking green power light [In reply to] Can't Post

Correct LW connector.

T CON is CPWBX3829TPXA

Interestingly it isnt going to green flashing. It powers up green solid, red LED flashes on main board, no backlights. Though going from on to off I get a flash of light. When it powers down after 5 seconds or so a relay clicks.

Should i hear a relay latch on start up?
