Vertical lines on Toshiba Regza RV535 Can't Post

Is there any way to fix this? Also, does anyone have a technical explanation as to what happened? All I have ever gotten from folks so far is, "The LCD panel is bad." Naturally, this started weeks after the warranty expired. It used to be intermittent, and now it's full time, all inputs. Otherwise the TV sworks great, it's a shame if it's scrap because of this.

The simple explanation is "Bad Construction."
When they had to establish hundreds of connections, rather than solder them into place, the manufacturers decided to take the cheaper route and rely on an over-glorified adhesive tape bond.
I suspect that, when the engineers brought up the draw-backs of using this system, they obtained pretty much the same answers as NASA gave the Rogers Commission.
