Vizio or Philips Can't Post

I have a choice between getting a Philips 32PFL5403D/27 or a Vizio VW42LFHDTV10A. I know the name brand Philips is a higher quality product but it is a 32" 720p television while the Vizio is a 42" 1080p screen. Is it worth compromising brand name for Full HD and a larger screen? Won't the 1080p make it better than the philips? Thanks, wynn

I would not have anything with the Philips badge if it was free. Panasonic is the name to go with.

I don't think it is worth compromising and I would go with the Philips >http://www.amazon.com/...89&creative=9325

Don't listen to the false statements of the Vizio haters. Vizio is a great tv. I have a 42" Vizio 1080p, and I love it! I've had it for a year, and I haven't had any problems with it, and it has a great picture.
Here it is:

You better stay with a major brand and Vizio and Philips won't cut it! It is BUYER BEWARE TIME as at last count, and I am counting, 87 brands of TVs on the market, and 80 of them, you can not get schematics or parts! 80 percent of these companies will drop out in 3 or 4 years leaving you holding the bag!

Don't believe what Paulpablo says! First off Philips has been around for years, and they won't go anywhere. Second; Vizio though a newer brand; they are becoming better known, selling well, and one of the top rated brands in several electronic magazines.

As of a few weeks ago, Philips has completely withdrawn from the North American market. Web portal down, tech line disconnected and all parts must be ordered through Vance Baldwin.

As for Vizio? My company does the service work for Walmarts and Sams Clubs stores. The Vizio has a great picture for the price. They are also the only company out there with a zero pixel policy on their panels. The failure rates aren't any worse than any other set out there.

Source? I just got on the Philips USA website, and it said nothing about leaving the North American Market.

Philips USA is gone.

The company is now called P & F. It's selling a conglomeration of chinese built junk right now with very poor support.

The Vizio is by far the better of the two. My father has had one fore 2.5 years and has had no problems at all. the picture is still bright and clear. The Philips has fewer video connections also.

Re: [Mitrandir] Vizio or Philips [In reply to] Can't Post

I would go with the Vizio. I have several Vizios, fixed several Vizios, and I'll continue to buy Vizios over other brands. That's just me. I can tell you that Dodge makes the best trucks on the road today as well. To each their own. Once you've opened up a few repair jobs, you'll get the idea about quality and durability. The regular consumer goes for the best picture and refresh rate especially if watching sports. 720 this and 1080 that. Get something with at least 120hz and good ratio. Go to Wally World and check out the displays. The price most generally dictates the better models in each brand. Good, better, best as usual.
I've never opened up a Philips brand LCD for repair. I'm not a brand basher, but I have been inside LGs, Vizios, Insignias, Emersons, and Sonys. My honest opinion as a surgeon? Sony is sort of a disappointment for the price and the well worn name as far as I'm concerned. Like I said....never had Philips under the knife.
