Weird effect during dark scenes

Hello everybody!
I just bought a new 100 Hz 40'' Sony LCD TV. The image is great, but I've noticed a weird effect that sometimes happens during dark scenes:
If I'm watching a DVD and there is a close-up on a guy in a slighty dark room and he starts to nod his head slowly up and down a little bit, then it seems like half his face is lagging a little bit behind the other half.
Is this a problem with the TV or is it a problem with the DVD player (which is rather old actually)? Has anyone else seen this effect?
