One thing most people don't know, is that even HDTV plasmas aren't usually HDTV (as in they don't display all the resolution of 720p and very few TVs in general handle 1080i, though that number is increasing)... The other thing to consider is that EDTV usually has better black levels, which means better contrast, which means the picture is more vivid...If you're concerned about the highest resolution signals (computers and the like) get the HDTV, if your primary viewing is DVDs and HD sports, the EDTV will generally look better and with the lower cost makes more sense...
