42" LG Plasma too dark Can't Post

Purchased an 42" LG Plasma less than a year ago. First problem was verticle lines coming and going on right side of screen, after LG sent out two different repair people and I took digital pic's to prove the problem was happening and they insisted that they had never seen this problem before. after a couple of weeks they sent out the repair man to install a part. After the repair man leaves i turn on the TV and it shuts after 25 seconds EVERY TIME.The repair man comes back a week later and picks up the TV,two weeks later he calls and says "all fixed" now the picture is soo dark you can't see most of the scenes and if it's a night scene, forget it. LG's no help nor is Ken Crane's TV where I purchased the TV. It's been three months now and I think i liked my 36"CRT TV better!!!!!
I've adjusted the contrast and brightness to max and it helps but it's still not right and I don't think you should have to adjust to max to watch the TV.
Any suggestions
thanks

LG are a nightmare to get spares and repairs.phone the repair shop again and get them back.its probably a fault on the control board as LG had a few problems with them.Or maybe they altered some voltages going to the pdp panel to evercome the line problem and gave you a different fault but thats just a guess from someone who has been in the business for years.despite what the salesmen told you, you will always get a better picture on a crt tv than a plasma or LCD.

Thanks for the quick reply,
The LG had a beautiful picture (except for the vert lines) until they "FIXED" it.
I stopped by the local Ken Cranes store to look at another same model LG, and the picture was bright and sharp just like mine was before this saga began.
thanks

Re: [techchris] 42" LG Plasma too dark [In reply to] Can't Post

Repairman (not) came out Sat 12-30-06 and I showed him the problem with cable as well as DVD. He hooked up a box to the TV thad generated lines, blocks, squares and X's, he shook his head. I asked "what's the problem". He said "no good, have to call factory". I asked if he's going to change another part and he says"I don't think so but I'll have to call the factory".Getting info is like pulling teeth. I asked if they will finally replace it and he says"maybe". What a proffessional warranty and customer relations procedure LOL . How do they stay in business? BTW I spent all Thursday and Friday trying to get ahold of LG's cust service Dept. After waiting on hold for 15 minutes each time (at least 20 calls) a voice comes on the phone and askes you to input your phone # and they say they'll call you back. Twenty messages and not one return call. I appreciate any help but I mainly want to share this saga yith everyone in hopes of helping others to avoid this type of nightmare with LG and Ken Cranes. Tha saga continues.................
thanks, Ken
