Hey Guys, I'm also getting either the TH-42PX25UP or TH-42XVS30 (same except all electronics come in a seperate enclosure). I also share the concern of being able to receive 720p signal sources BUT ACCESSED THROUGH THE INTERNAL CableCARD. BruZZi, you mentioned Only the Front PC input and the Internal Tuner (Using the coax inputs) will accept 720p. To watch 720p sources using the component, HDMI and DVI (PA20/PA25), you must set the HD Receiver/Cable box to output 1080i so the display will be able to downconvert those signals to 768. I just wanted to be sure in asking: 1) If the CardCARD in tandem with the internal coaxial input replaces a HD Receiver/Cable box for the above units, will the CableCARD technology allow for a 1080i input setting so as to also downconvert those signals to 768? The major networks are free to choose either 720p or 1080i for their HD broadcasts, and so the networks use both (see website http://www.timefordvd.com/...italTVTutorial.shtml). It seems apparent if some networks broadcast HD at 720p, my tuner will still down convert to 480, since my native 786 would not be able to naturally up convert, as mentioned in this thread. 2) However, some good websites sources(http://hometheater.about.com/...n/a/aafoxhdtv03a.htm) and http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/...er/home/tv_hdtv.html) state some HDTV's will upconvert to a HDTV's native display rate, while some forums, including this one (http://www.satelliteguys.us/...ndex.php/t-3069.html) say the HDTV does not upconvert the signal, the up conversion takes place before the HDTV. In your highly praised knowledge & experiences, will a 720p HD broadcast be able to be viewed in the above panasonic's native 786 display (either by the HDTV, CableCARD, HD Receiver/Cable box, or before these stages at the cable provider source)? Many thanks. GLA
