Panasonic Models Can't Post

I’m looking into buying the Panasonic TH-42PX25U/P or the TH-50PX25U/P, but there are no reviews for it anywhere. However there are several reviews for the Panasonic TH-42PX20U/P Plasma TV which logically seems to be the predecessor of the aforementioned models. The majority of the reviews state that the TH-42PX20U/P model is a fair set at best, which makes me hesitate buying the TH-42PX25U/P or the TH-50PX25U/P.

Now when you look up reviews for Panasonic TH-42PHD6UY and TH-50PHD6UY they receive stellar ratings and numerous reviews state that they are just about the best plasma TV’s on the market based on price & performance. With that said, what is the difference between the TH-42PX25U/P and the TH-42PHD6UY? I thought that one might be the consumer model and the other the commercial model, but differing model numbers and negative reviews of the TH-42PX20U/P threw me off completely. Any help would be appreciated.

Harry

MODEL ends with the letter 42PXU/P OR 25U/P's are currently new Panasonic displays intended for consumer use which has tuner built in. They are EDTV model which downgrade HDTV signals although It's not visible to naked eye when compared to HDTV Models . When your applications is viewing intended, they're at best as of your choice at the moment. It is rare that you find a good reviews at the moment cause it's yet not very long when they arrived in the consumer world.

In a Industrial Worlds are: TH-42PWDUY is also an EDTV which tuner does not contain. It does display similar to the consumer models above cause they share 853 x 480 resolutions. I will not recommend for computer graphics though!
However, the TH-42PHD6UY should your best option mainly bec. it's an HDTV capable which is computer graphics intended.

You should not be completely thrown by an INDUSTRIAL model cause they're the best at the moment. Panasonic is highly recommended!.

Actually, the TH-42PX25U/P is not EDTV, it's a Plasma HDTV (which means it's got a resolution of 1024x768, which is not real HDTV, which is 1,280x720, but is better than EDTV's 852x480)...

As for the TH-42PHD6UY, it is indeed the stripped-down "industrial" model of the TH-42PX25U/P, which means it has the plasma HD resolution of 1024x768...

For reviews, CNET has one at http://reviews.cnet.com/...96904-2.html?tag=top

For the Panasonic EDTV panels, you want the TH-42PD25U/P, and it's industrial counterpart the TH-42PWD6UY...It's the highest rated plasma at CNET http://reviews.cnet.com/...16296-3.html?tag=top

-Cheers-

Re: [Guest] Panasonic Models [In reply to] Can't Post

HI. Did you end up getting the Panasonic TH-42PX25U/P?

I too am debating whether I should go with this consumer model or the commercial model Panasonic TH-50PHD7UY. I'd like to hook up a surround sound system in lieu of the consumer's built-in sound. Since I'll be using the HD cable box, I don't see a reason to use the consumer's built-in tuner. The cost savings and practicality is pushing me towards the TH-50PHD7UY.

My question to anyone is will the commercial TH-50PHD7UY picture quality difference be substantial. I'm aware of up-converting from the majority of standard digital and some less (240) will cause picture quality loss in a higher native resoulution of the TH-42PX25U/P ( or any HD plasma set), and therefore an ED plasma "consumer" set will have less picture quality loss in up-scaling. However I don't know if a "commercial" set like the TH-50PHD7UY will be the same, better or worse. Since the only remarks I have read between the commercial and consumer models is that they're almost the same, which is not here or there.

Any weigh-in on the commercial TH-50PHD7UY difference will be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly.

Physica, if price difference don't really matter to you regardless of your other issues or comparisons between the 2 ( ED OR HDTV) I would recommend the HDTV still. computer graphic wise, It's all yours, which EDTV's weakness.TH-50PHD7UY is absolute best.
