Panasonic TH-42PZ77U picture quality Can't Post

Hello,
I just bought a TH-42PZ77U and I am not impressed with the picture at all. I am only using the S-VHS connector with non-HD DirecTV but c'mon, my 10 year old Hitachi tube TV has a better and sharper satellite picture with the same source and connection.
I know (well, I hope) that the picture will look good with a 1080p source, but I do watch a lot of TV and this TV was supposed to have a good picture with ANY signal source.

Thank you for any opinions.

It's amazing! 17 years from now , there always been an individual who was left out of info despite all technologies available for information around. Magazines, newspapers, televisions, and most importantly the internet. My only question to you is:> where have you been?.. I don't quite understand you having bought of something in comparison to an old stuff and became the > better< from your overall judgement, simply because you weren't around when the discussions of the new technology has arrived.
I have a suggestions instead, in this section:> you can go back from the very beginning and start reading, and from there, we will decide how far you understood the subject in order for us to share our OPINIONS. hope this helps!

Umm, actually it doesn't help at all. I asked a simple question and from your post I can only assume you don't know the answer because you rambled on and on slamming me instead of just answering my question.
Let's say I did read every post on this forum, how in the he** would you know what I understood?
Gee, it must be real cool to be as smart as you (think you are) and make fun of everyone who doesn't know the same things as you.
I was hoping to get an intelligent answer to my question and hopefully some intelligent person will respond (they haven't yet).
BTW, don't fall off your high horse, you could get hurt.

what denonjapan means i think is that flat screens have never given as sharp a picture as old crt televisions and previous threads bear this out. what you are seeing is new technology not yet perfected, but the public are being conned into buying it by slick marketing. I wish I had a Euro for every customer that complained to me about the same thing as you are,I would be on Honolulu beach by now!!

It's complicated ain't it? Plasma + s-vhs + non-hd direct tv are the main factors of your questions that disqualifies you for an smart answer. I re-directed you to the beginning perhaps somehow you will find it on your own how stupid that question was, since I refused to call it and deliver it personally that's how you sounded right?
Why isn't HONESTY the best policy? if your overall comprehension from reading describes your question above. Honey! you haven't been paying attention. It's like in the classroom, you're physically present but mentally absent.
I'd rather get hurt from falling rather than be a dead man walking.
