Panasonic TH-42PZ80U 7 blinks Can't Post

7 year old Viera Plasma, I get a click, then after turning on, I get standby blink of 7 times. Now have done a little troubleshooting & research here, although not much on these older plasma mosels, Seems to be a SC board issue according to some utube video's. Here are a couple pictures to show what I'm talking about.

this is the Pan w/ the back off
http://i59.tinypic.com/1433peb.jpg

This is the suspected SC board
http://i58.tinypic.com/e0k3l3.jpg
Now with everything connected, I get the 7 blinks. If I disconnect the small ribbon cable from the SC board (@SC20 con)
http://i62.tinypic.com/140ztj7.jpg
notice on bottom right of SC board, ribbon disconnected

http://i60.tinypic.com/2dw9r3t.jpg

Tv will power on normally (no raster of course) and the LED now stays on, all fans stay on
Now is it the SC board or possibly the logic board the ribbon cable comes from?? Or am I in an entirely different ballpark here?? Wink
any thoughts/suggestions are respected here, thanks

You say:

Quote
I get standby blink of 7 times.

•7 Blinks SOS: Pin 68 of the CPU IC9003 monitors the status of the SC, SU, SD board. During normal operation, a low is applied to pin 76. If the SC, SU, or SD board becomes defective, a high is provided to pin 68. As a result, the unit shuts down and the POWER LED blinks 7 times.

What is resistance across SC2 connector from power supply?

Caution: Do not let the TV run for more than 30 seconds while connectors or boards are disconnected.

not sure, starts around 200 then climbs up due to a capacitor I guess
thank you
EDIT: maybe crap meter, did another meter, getting .696 on 2k scale

You ARE measuring while SC2 is still connected to PS, right?

Unplug connector SC2. Measure across vacated SC2 pins on SC board.

No short on VSUS.

On P board, Connector P25, Pins 1 & 2= 15 volts(P)? Pin 5 & 6= 5 volts(P)? Pin 9= 5 volts standby?

Try pins 5 & 6 instead of 8

Sorry. Doing two Panasonic plasmas simultaneously is confusing me. The fact that I work on 10 times more LCD sets than Plasmas isn't helping either.
Tech Manuals I found covers multiple models. The second one I found today has a 7 Blink troubleshooting flow chart Page 21. See if is within your comfort range.

gambled on a used 20$ one off FleaBay

The board you received might be defective?

You DID see that board working in a TV? The seller usually claims something to the effect of "100% fully tested" or "guaranteed working".

FleaBay and politicians. Both lie through their teeth.

How is the sellers guaranty / return policy? At least you're not out much, unless they soaked for shipping.

As far as

so far I've found 2 service manual versions, 2 different Technical/Training manuals and, of course, the Operation manual.

That's what the flowchart was leading to ... SC or D board.

Do you get VSUS voltage?

Make sure that 5v(P) and 15v(P), that were confirmed at P board connector, are reaching the SC board (at SC20).
While we're confirming, make sure 5v(STB) is reaching the D board (at D25). (The 5v(P) and 15v(P) also feed into D25, go through the D board and then reach SC board.)
Best to check at any convenient point on a board rather than try to measure at FFC connector. BTW, be sure to inspect those FFCs, as we know how easily they become defective.

During normal operation, a low is applied to pin 76.
