Panasonic plasma - the "vivid" setting Can't Post

Have had my Panasonic plasma for about a month now and have avoided using the "vivid" setting because it appeared over saturated plus I'm hearing that maybe it's "bad" for the tv. However, the "vivid" setting is what the default setting for the tv is so I can't imagine Panasonic making a setting its default if it's bad for the tv. Over the past few days of watching the Masters golf tourney in HD, the "vivid" setting makes the picture look amazing. Don't know why - if it has something to do with the fact that there's so much green and that it's outdoors. My question is this - does having the tv on "vivid" shorten the life of the tv? Is is indeed a "bad" setting to have it on? Or is it just a lot of rubbish?

watch it in whatever setting looks good to you.it wont make much difference to its life. just don't expect it to last as long as your old tv.3-5 years is good going for a flat screen tv due to the fact that it costs more to fix it than it cost you new, unless you bought an extended warranty.
