Philips Plasma NO PICTURE Can't Post

Hi, I have a Philips 42pw9962 plasma, which is similar to the 42FD9932 and 42FD9966. It powers up and the speakers work, but the screen is pure black - it doesn't even blink on powerup. Apparently, this model has been totally abandoned by Philips - there are no service manuals or info available.

I have heard that if one fan in the TV stops working, the picture goes away until it is fixed. All the fans seem to work in mine. I have also heard that the contrast supply can have a shorted capacitor, but I haven't been able to check this because I don't have a schematic.

Can anyone add to this?

Your plasma screen is dead (i.e. burned-out).....sorry! It happened to me about 3 weeks ago with my Philips 42FD9932. I did a TON of research online, and I also spoke with a couple of service technicians, the best of course was a locally licensed Philips tech. I had the set looked at for possible replacement of the Power Unit. That did not help. The resulting diagnosis was screen burn-out. I was told it would cost $4G's to replace which of course was not worth it. Therefore, I said goodbye to my set of only 2.5 years of age, and brought it to our county hazardous waste disposal unit.

I suffered through a few weeks of turn on / turn off like you did. Unfortunately, it's inevitable.....your set is trash. Good luck.
