Philips Plasma screen Model No. 42PF9952 Can't Post

Does anyone have a service/repair manual for a Philips Plasma screen Model No. 42PF9952?
Desperate to buy original or copy manual or borrow it for a day or two.
Alternatively has anyone repaired this model for failure to power up?
If so what did you find (I know about the fan problem.)

Thanks

David

Hi there I have exactly the same problem with a 42PF9952 i.e. it shuts down after a few seconds and goes back into standby mode.

What did you mean about the fan problem.

And have you managed to obtain a service manual yet ?

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem with my 42PF9952, it powers up, fans start and then it shuts down leaving the front panel LED flashing red.

I have checked out the fans, they are all spinning OK and the 3 wire connections all seem to be good. Does anyone have other ideas on what the fault may be ?

I have the same problem and took it to the Philips people.
They explained to me that it has a self checking circuit that goes on protect if anything is wrong. So it turns off if the gas is worn out or whatever electronic or fan problem you might have. After a couple of weeks they took their thumb out of their ass and told me that they are going to substitute all the electronics instead of repairing it for a price. The price is 1600 Euro for the hardware and 150 Euro for the labour. Now apart from paying 150 euro for someone to pop two screws and connect two wires, which isn't nice, 1600!!!!! They must be out of their minds. A new one is only 3000, and 1600 will buy you enough electronics to shoot planes down, they can't charge that for something that tells what square goes what colour! They also refused to put me in contact with any of the many people they know that have busted plasma and good electronics. I don't know what to do at this point, if any of you guys finds that it's the plasma your problem and you want to sell me your board instead of throwing it away please email me at joe_span@hotmail.com

I hope this serves a good lesson to all. ( refer to other topics: about burn-in issues or other issues when a DISPLAY fails )

One individual was right under the email (warrenrigg@hotmail.com) about there's nothing you can do to fix a broken display no matter what causes it when life discontinues. if it fails, even if "let say"you will work it's second chance. The problem still clings at same time frame as if it was brand new.

The logic of all this is: it's likely you can't fix a broken FLOURESCENT LIGHT ( it's same principle applied to PLASMA DISPLAY) When it fails.

This Philips model shuts off and leaves you in Standby Mode because......the plasma screen has Burned-Out! I had a 42FD9932 and after only 2.5 years I suffered this problem last month. I had it diagnosed by a repair facility and all the junk that people are writing about in forums related to faulty fans, power units, etc. is mostly just that....JUNK. These units just don't have the 30,000 hour life that they were originally projected to have, so they are burning out all over the place. I couldn't even "give" mine to the local Philips-authorized repair technician because he said he had enough of them! He already has a pile of them and his county hazardous waste facility won't even take them! So the bottom line is......you need a new tv. Yours is trash. Sorry.....

Mine has this symptom, however if you are quick you can flick the channel to the sky box before it shuts off and see a picture for a second or two.
How can the tube be burned out if this happens?
Or is this the equivalent of a flouresent tube flickering a few times before not coming on?
