What am I doing Wrong? Can't Post

Alright. I am new here and am pretty TV "Illiterate" so I apologist if I have some crude ways of describing things. Anyway, I just bought a Panasonic TH-42PX77U. From what I have read and such it says it does support 1080p. Now the only thing I believe I have that goes up to 1080p right now is my Xbox 360. When I set it to put out a 1080p signal, nothing comes up. It just stays a black screen. The TV has both Component and HDMI inputs and I have heard that some TV's only support 1080p through HDMI. Right now my 360 and DVD player both use Component. It has no problem 720p or 1080i and the TV is less then a few days old. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong, what to do or even if the TV supports 1080p at all?

Thanks,
Steve

You ain't doing anything wrong, you just don't have the materials to support 1080p YET!/ Also, you cannot manually set up to 1080p of your tv resolution, while using component input from your xbox. it don't make sense.

Thanks for your reply. But if I understood what you said correctly, I think you may think that I am trying to force 1080p from my Xbox or something. Just to clarify things, my Xbox uses normal component connections. And in the visual setting for the Xbox it allows me to set the resolution to 480p, 480i, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. So I don't think I am really forcing anything. But when I set 1080p, the TV screen just stays black. Everything I have read says the TV supports 1080p though, so I don't know whats wrong. Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Im not familiar with xbox, however xbox should have optional hdmi cable for that purpose to output 1080p similar with blu-ray playstation 3 players. Your tv supports 1080p indeed thru HDMI. Check your local stores if they carry the cable.

If I'm not mistake, the Panasonic up converts everything to 1080P for display. But in order to feed a 1080P signal into the unit you must use the HDMI inputs.
