Whats the standard resolution for a dvd on a plasma? Can't Post

I've got a Pioneer 50" 5060HD Plasma. When I put a DVD in, the tv displays it in 480. Can't I get 720 with a DVD? I know I can only get 1080 from HDTV or an HD DVD. But how do I get 720?

Thanks for any help!
Tim

480 (either interlaced or progressive) is the native resolution of a standard DVD. If you want it to display at 720p, then you will need either an upconverting DVD player or an external scaler.
