philips 42pf9952 Can't Post

I've got a 42PF9952/12s Philips plasma, which went out with a "bang"

After opening the back of the set, I found the Chopper FET in de preconditioner module to be S/C.

After gaining some info, I found that philips advices to replace the whole module. Can anybody offer me some advice? I'd like to have a go at repairing the module as it looks like a chopped power supply.

Further more, is there a specific reason for the module to blow or is it just one of those things which happen?

Also, can I expect more problems after an eventual repair of the preconditioner?

I haven't much experience with plasma tv's as the 're only recently coming my way.

With many thanks in advance

Edmo

Philips plasma tv's use more than one type of power supply in the UK and quite honestly philips are a pain in the backside to repair. we often replace parts only to find the whole lot blows up again before long. change the whole pcb if you can get the correct one
