Advice on choice of projector Can't Post

I am a freshman in college (in the Inland Empire, CA) and am looking to buy a projection device to be able to watch digital movie files from my computer. The rest of my dorm's hall wants to pitch in and have it as a communal (portable) type thing. Being college-age kids, we do not want to pay too too much—we are hoping to be in the price range of $200-300...? Is this a possibility? And if so, which one would be the best to get? We will be projecting in very dark rooms onto a sheet hopefully. I know that I'm probably way off on the feasibility of this, but i REALLY hope its possible.

Thanks.

I think acer has launched a budget projector.
The main think you should always remember before buying a projector is
Look for a higher contrast Ratio
As per your budget you can buy a VGA projector
Check the life of the projector lamp
And finally service and support should be there.
