Akai Big screen TV no video?? Can't Post

 Hi all,

I have a 52" Akai rear projection TV that went on the fritz. It was purchased in Oct 2001 so it has had some use. (Model AA64-01395N) (Serial - 39ZRA60860M)

I have audio and you can hear the channels are changing but I have no video. When say I have no video, the screen does not light up at all. I pulled the back off and noticed there are three tubes so I highly doubt all three are bad. Does anyone have any idea where I can start diagnoising this thing? Any help with this would be most appreciated. I miss it already.

This unit of yours is a Samsung TV with a Akai logo. You might want to check the power deflection board to your right. When you power up this unit you should here a crackling like noise when the high voltage comes up. If not look down into the board and look for a wettness apperance where PTV fluid from one of the pix tubes might have spilled out onto the board. This fluid is clear antifreeze that is between the tube and lens assy housing in each of the three tubes you see. The rubber diapham dry rotts and forms a hole or tear and the fluid bleeds out of the crt assy. If you don't see fluid damage you have a good chance replacing the board will correct your problem. Inspect that board real good. Inspect wires for fluid spill. Look real hard it only takes a few drops in the right place to kill that board. If you do have fluid damage right me back.
