Hitachi 50FX18B won't turn on Can't Post

Hi, I have a Hitachi 50FX18B. My young son was watching his favorite movie, Star Wars, and decided to help out the Rebellion by shooting stormtroopers with his water gun. Unsure Once we saw what had happened, we dried the screen off and gently blew a hair dryer on the front switches which are located just below the screen where the water slid down on to it. At first we thought it had worked, and the t.v. came on normally. But over the next few days it became intermittant until it would no longer turn on with either the physical switch or the remote (both are located on the same front panel of switches). So my guess was that the switch panel went bad.

We had a local tech look at it but he never gave me a clear answer. He just said that he could not guarantee the repair and thus would not do it (although he still charged me a bunch of money to tell me that). So I am stuck as to what to do. I hate to throw the t.v. away if it can be fixed inexpensively, but I don't want to spend a bunch on a t.v. that is now about 6 years old (but still a nice t.v.) Anyone know what the problem might be and whether or not its easily fixed? Can I order the switch mechanism from somewhere and replace it myself? Could it be something more serious than just the switches? Looking inside the front panel, it appears that nothing else was close enough to get wet.

Sorry for the n00b questions, but that is what I am....Wink

Thanks in advance,

Kirk
