Hitachi CU5000K Convergence Tuning Can't Post

Just received this unit, and like many others who post here, I can not get the convergence to clear up. Not only will the red, green, and blue not line up, but they are not straight on the screen when I try to align them using the test pattern and knobs on the front. The line bends.

I have had the back of the set off, but I did not see where one can adjust this manually. If anyone has any input, I would much appreciate the help. I am ready to take it to a shop, but it is too big for our suv!

Re: [Guest] Hitachi CU5000K Convergence Tuning [In reply to] Can't Post

Talked to the tech from AmericanTV, and he said that it would probably be a $300 repair based on the description of the problem. Frown He said that it would need one or two circuits replaced that commonly cause the problem. Since it is a 1989 model, I think that instead of putting 300+ into it, I will just wait a while and buy a new one.

I don't know what circuits are needed, so at this point, the tv is taking up half of our small dining room, and is ready for the dumpster!
