LG RE44SZ21RD DLP Rear projection TV Can't Post

Hi

Has anyone had any problems with power-up issues on this machine LG re44sz21rd model? The fault materialized just after three months of use, can't power up after just switching off. Some times takes an hour or two of attempts before it will fire up. Once running no problems. Could it have to do with humidity, seems much worse on hot humid days but might be only an impression.......

Thanks for the reply. Since then the set was repaired by LG under warrenty, think a new replacement power supply unit was fitted, works perfectly since.

I think if you have any knowladge this forum is the place to share it with others.

Hi, Saw your notes about the LG DLP 300Hz TV. I have one so I thought I would add a bit of info as well. In all its been great - about 12 months old. However, just recently it has deveolped dark shading on both sides when in wide screen mode. After speaking with the LG service agent there seems to be a problem with the light tube, something that LG are aware of. Apparently the lamp is in very close proximity to the light tube and the glue that they use in the construction of this tube tends to melt and the result is developing dark permanent shadows down each side. This not uncommon. Anyway they have taken my TV away for repair and the technician tells me he currently has 3 in the shop waiting for new light tubes. So, it seems that there are some issue with this type of set.

In addition I believe there is a problem with the lamp life. Originally LG stated 10,000 hours in their literature. This has now been revised to 8000 hrs, yet after I have investigated this some of these lamps have only lasted 3 month or so, which incidentally is LG's warranty for the lamp. So, here we have a lamp that is purported to be able to cope with 8-10K hrs yet can fall over within 3 months after which it will cost you around AU$500.00

Good luck wth your set

Hi ALL,

I've just bought a RE-44SZ21RD and I am very pleased with it ................ apart from when playing a Video and I fast forward the tape, the screen goes blank after about 3 seconds and it just displays "NO SIGNAL". On rewind I get about 20 seconds of picture and then intermitent picture flashing. I'm awaiting a responce from LG. Mad

Comments please?

I have the 52 in version of the dlp, 3 1/2 months old. The set took 30 to 45 sec to power up for a picture to appear- great picture --. But now, it started to act up. Turn set on after a minute to two minutes no sound, no picture. Turn it off and then back on again. A picture and sound come on - great picture, but after 4 minutes the screen freezes up and turns to a very spotty unclear black and white picture. The sound continues clearly. IF i change the channel, the picture is still frozen in a black and white state. I shut the set off, and turn it back on and it goes through the same process. I did the turning on and off for an hr. After an hr the picture stayed on as if nothing was wrong. The next two days i went through this same process. Now the when i turn it on it tries to power up, you hear fans etc, but it flashes the "lamp out signal" and then shuts down.

Lg service is scheduled-

Anyone with these problems? An can I expect the LG service people to really understand the Problem?

Comments Please

I've had two LG 44-inch sets develop the same problem after about a month: Dark triangles in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. They start small, then grow to cover nearly half the screen. Anyone have a clue what the problem might be?

Hi

Sorry mate, that I haven't seen that one yet, I would contact LG's support team on that one, looks like the DLP chip to me or again something to do with the power supply. Since mine was fixed I had no problems with it.

Hi

It looks to me like those machines are shipped with a potential power supply fault. Sent mine for repair under guarantee and it got fixed in a relatively short time. I expect they just fit a later revision power supply and then it remains stable (fingers crossed).
