MIT ws-55511 converge problem	Can't Post

Recently when the tv is turned on, my red is out of convergence in a warped curve on the top left and accross the bottom in various spots. 1st pic

After I leave it for close to 45 minutes, the red will start to get closer aligned. Then after converging every box out till only white is showing, I turn it off for 30 seconds and turn it back on and there is various sections all over that are again out of alignment. 2nd pic

Does this sound characteristic of the IC chip that has to be soldered into the board?"

Excellent Descriptions & photos. Yes this does appear to be cold solder on the convergence ICs. In that set the convergence ICs will be on a large aluminum heat sink (There will be 2 ICs). The number on the ICs will likely be STK393-110 There will be approx. 15 pins to resolder on each IC. The pins on this IC are very close together, when soldering be very careful not to get solder bridges (By this I mean do not solder pins together) -- Dan

Thank you, staring at those convergence screens really make your eyes crossed, glad I don't have to mess with them very often.
I do have a question regarding your response. I was under the impression that my model tv only has one of these IC's on the circuit board. Do you know that it has 2 I know some other MIT's have 2 but some people that have tried this repair say that there is only 1. Just trying to clear things up.

1 or 2, just resolder all pins before you get total ic failure

thanx techchris, i haven't been using the tv, since everytime i would turn it on the convergence would be off. Ordered the IC from a site that states "no chinese electronics" supposedly the chip is 100% sanyo. Soon as I get it I am going to remove the board and find a local electronics shop to solder the new one in.
