Magnavox FP4630 W102 chassis # PTV620-AH01 Can't Post

Hello,
I found a great solution to a problem here that was solved and hope my issue can be as well.
I just inherited this projection tv because I had not choice. My mother in law gave it to my wife. So now I have to deal with it. Anyhow, what's happening here and was before at their home, their's this blue halo that appears alway at the right side of shapes being diplayed on the screen. It seem to only occur when the blue light is required since it doesn't show all the time. I played with convergence and although my sight is starting to go I do believe the the horizontal and vertical convergence is perfect.
I noticed that there's this panel on the fron where the speakers are and when I look in there without unscrewing anything. (huge electrical warning logo) alerts me that I can get electricuted. However, it looks like each projector has a blue green and red bulb I guess. I notice at the base of it a spring with a screw. I'm wondering if over the years the tv had been shook and the blue project is off alignment.
Is this what needs to be adjusted to get rid of the annoying blue halo?
Plus the picture is not quite sharp. It's got a slight blurring. Very faint.
Thanks too anyone that can help. Of course these tv's are not worth spending money on since a 47" flat panel is pretty much the price of repairing one of these units. I'll give you a virtual beer for your help.
thanks...!!

jrgman;.....

Could be one of 2 problems in your TV...

1)..Convergence ICs , but you said you played with the adjustments & they seemed to be working OK..
Based on your eyesight situation , still a possibility...

2)...CRT coolant needs to be changed....Most likely your problem...
This is a common problem with Philips/Magnavox projection TVs...
Go here to see what is in store for you;=>...
http://www.riddledtv.com/...RTCoolant/index.html
This is a laborious job that will take you 2~4 hours to do....
You will need to do 2 CRTs...Green & Blue...
Red is OK 99.9999% of the time & does NOT have to be done....
See if you can handle that type of work etc involved...
The link above is not for your TV , but a general guide showing the process involved...

To confirm which one IS your problem , can you take & post pix of the fault ???

THANKS....Sly......

If its a halo its the coolant. This is very common especially in Philip Magnavox projection sets. You can do this repair yourself. We have complete kits with the fluid, instructions, and support on our site.
Hope this Helps,

Ed
