Mitsubishi VS-5042 - No Color/Grey and White ghosting	Can't Post

Hello everyone.

I have a Mitsubishi 52” projection TV (approx 12 years old). Can only see a ghost image on the screen and no sound. It worked fine until a couple months ago, then the picture started coming and going. If I tapped the side of the TV, the picture would come back. Finally, it went completely out and now only a ghost image.

The images are blurry gray and white. I can watch a show, but images are gray and white, and a bit blurry, but no 3-D effect. No color at all, and no sound.

Any Ideas on where to start troubleshooting this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I see you & jts1957 are also on another forum with the same exact post for this problem.....
I'll try to help you...(NO "crickets chirping" YouTube video , I promise)...
You definitely have a bad connection(s) somewhere...
I'm not sure if the audio will be affected by the PIP module....Been awhile...
There is the possibility that you may have a bad "PIP" module....
Hook up a video source to one of the inputs....
Turn the PIP on....
See if the PIP has a clear pix with color etc....
Swap the pip with the main pix & see what happens...Post results...

How much electronic/TV repair background experience do you have ????

930C812 PIP module is seldom problematic.

That "may" be a sub you have there , however his set , I suspect , has the original board that to my recollection had about 6~12 of those stinky fish oil caps that went bad & gave a few similar problems....Correct ????

Incorrect. I suspect his set too new (1995ish). Ones you're thinking of are in older sets.

I've ALSO worked for an authorized Service Center that does warranty work for RCA , Philips/Magnavox & MITSUBISHI & others !!!!...
So don't think you are the ONLY GD IDIOT that worked for Authorized service centers....
The difference between you & me is that my advice applies to their problem.....
