It sounds like you need to replace the convergence ICs. If it is a Pioneer they will probably be STK392-110. There are usually 2 of these ICS, One will be for red and one for blue, it's best to change them both while you are that far into the repair, if you don't, you will get one replaced and the 2nd could go soon. These ICs are the biggest ICs in the TV and will be mounted to large aluminum heat sinks. They usually have approx. 15 pins each. You can get them at www.electronix.com for around $6 each. Anyone with de-soldering skills and soldering skills can replace these ICs. Once you de-solder them and unbolt them from the heat sink, they will often be stuck to the heat sink (this is just due to the excessive heat these ICs reach) You may have to give them a tap with a small hammer to break them loose from the heat sink. Make sure they are completely de-soldered before applying too much force to remove them or you could damage the print on the circuit board making it impossible to repair. There will be a heat sink grease between the IC and the heat sink, try to keep as much of it as you can and apply it to the new ICs. It's white in color; this heat sink grease helps the ICs to dissipate their heat to the heat sink which helps extend their life. These sets often have an entire metal box that pulls out of the set keeping the entire chassis & tubes etc. together. Once removed you can turn this metal cage on it's side & get at these IC's from there. To do this, there are 6 bolts to remove, 2 at the back end of the chassis, 2 more slightly down each side going through the metal and into the bottom of the wood cabinet and 2 more in from the front of the set behind the speaker grill. You will also have to unplug the speaker wires from the chassis as well as the front buttons. Then the metal cage, housing the electronics of the set, can be slid out the back of the TV. If you have any other questions please ask -- Dan ________________________ Learn LCD / Plasma TV Repair
