Philips Model 50PP920217F Chassis DPTV305F replaced ic's and fuses & blinking red led now 50" Rear Projection TV I originally started out having a blue haze around images and lettering on picture, which couldn't be adjusted. Then, I started having double images with the red and green. My husband replaced the IC's stk392-120's with stk392-180's because someone on a web forum said they were stronger. He put heat sink compound on back of IC's and and soldered pins. He didn't replace any of the resistors because he thought they looked good. Put everything back together, but a ribbon cable may have not been connected and two resistors blew on the board. He replaced those two, plus 6 larger resistors near the IC's that didn't test for having continuity on the circuit. Service manual called for 6R8 1Watt metal film. Radio Shack wasn't sure what 6R8 was and wanted to know what the ohms was, but service manual only listed above. They compared the bands on resistors and gave us 1 watt resistors that were supposedly compatible. Plugged everything back in and it just has the red power button blinking with no picture. If he unplugs the cable closest to the IC's that goes to the second board, the power button stays a solid red, which he read, meant that we still had an IC issue. Can anyone tell me if or how to test the IC's and if we shouldn't have upgraded to the stk392-180's? Prior to us trying to fix it, we at least had a poor quality picture. He has tested all of the fuses for continuity on the convergence board and they seem fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We ordered IC's off of electronix.com. Should we replace ic's and 6 fuses again? Also, how can I confirm that we have connected all the cables correctly. I have downloaded the Philips service manual for this model, but wasn't sure what to look for. Should numbers on the board correspond to something on the cables, etc. We labeled them 1st, but a few of the labels fell off.
