RCA model M50WH72S picture problem

RCA model M50WH72S picture problem	Can't Post

I got an RCA model # M50WH72S projection tv from my son in law. He had to keep a fan blowing on the set for it to work. If he didnt the picture would go white with random pixelations on the screen. I hooked up the tv and it came on and pq was good, but within 5 minutes it had a white screen with a 5" wide horizontal bar across the screen about 10" down from the top and there were random dark pixelations across the screen. This tv sat for about 3 months without being used until i got it. Can anybody help me with this?

yes it did work for him but for just a short period before he went and got a plasma panel, i would really prefer not to have to set a fan up to blow behind the tv if i could determine the problem and have it fixed.... he said that it took a long time before his would exhibit a problem, not 5 minutes like me, and it did not have the horizontal band across the screen so i suspect something has gotten worse...
