Misfire;.....

Very good !!!
That's more like it...

One last thing to check...
IF you don't feel comfortable with this check , DO NOT do it...
Check for DC volts on pin #4 of U19700...
Use the negative side of C19702 for your "-" lead of your meter & the "+" on pin #4.....
Be careful as there are potentially dangerous volts in that area...
Please post the reading & the STK number of U19700..
(Want to make sure I have the right info)...

Thanks...

Has the STK gone bad? I've already replaced it once, And I got the big 200 cap to discharge just messing around, that thing does go POW!

Sounds bad to me. See if Ron agrees.

Misfire;....

I agree with jts1957...
It looks like the STK has bit the dust again...

So start shopping for one...
When you have it installed , do NOT hook the power supply up to the convergence panel...
Read the output voltages at J19701 as before & post readings...

OK, new STK in place,,, this shows voltage in,,

And this shows voltage at pin 4 of STK,

Am I doing something wrong??

Were you monitoring Pin 4 as set was connected to AC and then turned on?

Check the 5 high value resistors:
For ease of measurement float either end of R19700 & R19722, then measure all 5:
R19700
R19701
R19702
R19703
R19722

IF they check OK, reconnect resistors.

Now I'm really curious what's happening on pin 4 between the time you plug-in and turn the set on and the time you finally get your test leads connected?
In other words, find a way to have meter test leads connected so you can monitor pin 4 as set is turned on. Tack two short wires (a half inch piece of resistor lead) to ground and ANY convenient point that connects to pin 4 and connect alligator jumper leads between tacked "test stakes" and each meter lead (Red jumper between red meter test lead and pin 4 test stake / black jumper between black meter test lead and ground test stake.

R19714 is NOT open? (39 hundredth of one ohm)

Do you have approx 145 Volts DC on IC19700 pins 11 & 12 (they are SAME point - let's not go through that again)?
Try plugging in rainbow connector, Convergence PS is supposed to be turned on via rectified filament on pin 3 of J19304.

Voltage may come down once IC starts running.
IC may start running once rainbow connected.

Let's see what Ron thinks.

Ron ...
Read page 25 Circuit Overview and see if I'm even in the ballpark.

jts1957;....

Have a question;...

What does the "rainbow" refer to ???
We both may be in the ballpark , but this power supply is way out in left field..

He has NO +23 vdc on pin # 4 of J19701..
That voltage is coming from the flyback pin 8...
It also goes thru R14703 which he replaced before..
I'd start looking there for WHY there's NO +23 vdc on J19701...
I may be on a wild goose chase with that , but it seems to me that the +23 vdc is vital to turn the Conv PS on..
Re-check R14703 & make sure that it's STILL OK...

Misfire;...
Re-check R14703 & make sure that it's STILL OK & post results...
IF it's bad , replace it again...

PLUG J19304 into J19701 & read the voltages on that connector (J19701)...
Post ALL readings;=>..
Pin #1= ??
Pin #2=??
Pin #3 is chassis ground & should read 0.0 volts...
Pin #4 =??
Pin #5 = ??
Pin #6 = ??

Have fun...

Try plugging in rainbow connector???..

STILL doesn't clarify WHAT the hell a "rainbow connector" is in an older RCA TV !!!
I though a "rainbow connector" has to do with the flat panel TVs...

OK , minor "brain fart" !!!
I edited post...
IF memory serves , he did not get any readings with those 2 connectors hooked up...

Rainbow connector: http://s776.photobucket.com/...ia/CAM00640.jpg.html Connects convergence PS to convergence board.

Also observe that pins on connectors J19304 & J19701 are reversed from one to the other (Pin 3 is pin 4, Pin 1 is Pin 6, etc.) and there appears to be NO "P" connectors (at least not on schematic).

just to clarify,,, recheck R14703? if good, plug in cables from CPS (convergence power supply) to board, turn on TV and observe voltages at the 6 wire plug? #3 being ground?

Misfire;..

""recheck R14703? if good, plug in cables from CPS (convergence power supply) to board,""
Yes..
BTW:...
IF R14703 IS bad , it MUST be 3.0 OR 2.7 ohms @ 3 watts..

"" turn on TV and observe voltages at the 6 wire plug? ""
Yes..

#3 being ground?
I don't know IF the panel has the pin numbers for J19701 on the solder side the power supply panel...
On J19701 . pin 3 IS ground ("-")..
On the connector J19304 , pin 4 IS the ground...

Just do the same as before when you made a test stake for HOT ground at C19702.
This time, Pin 11 AND Pin 12 of T19701 or any convenient point along that SAME trace would be ideal for a Cold ground test stake.

Bottom (foil) view of circuit board
Blue = T19701
Green = Pins 11 & 12 of T19701
Red = J19701 Pin 3

ANY point on that thick black ground foil will work.
