Samsung HCM422W/HCM4216W convergence problem?	Can't Post

Hi Everyone:

I have read all the posts regarding this issue but do not have a specific fix; My problem is that the perfect focus does not get passed 4% the blue convergence is way off and has an arc in it, and cannot be manually corrected. The red and green are fine. I do not have the service manual but I do know how to get into the special convergence screen.

Can anyone let me know what I need to do to possibly fix this problem, Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Your convergence board has a bad STK chip. You can purchase it directly and it will solve your problem. If you have an account with a part supplier like Herman Electronics they are $65.

No service manual needed, simple board swap.

I was looking for the part, but I live in Canada and cannot find a place that ships to Canada, any help would be appreciated...

is that the whole board? so just swap them out?

do you know if these are the original samsung ones or some cheap made in china stuff?

Same problem with an Akai PT4298HD (this is a Samsung HCM4216W branded as an Akai - sold at Costco among other places - take off the badge on front and the sticker on the back and it's a Samsung. Even all of the guts are labeled Samsung.)

Since mine was (I thought) a different brand, I purchased the service manual from http://servicemanuals.net, tracked down the part (few part number changes involved) and ordered the exact part number mentioned above from http://bestbuyparts.com.

Got the part in about 3 days, swapped it out, and everything looks great!

Thanks to all of you who posted on here and provided guidance. Ain't the 'net a wonderful thing!

Thanks for the very valuable info. My AKAI PT4298HD looks great again with the new board. One question, though. I hate to just throw away the old board if it's of any value to any parts supplier/manufacturer. Anyone know of any way to recycle it?
