Samsung hcm4216 red light flashes no picture or sound

Have problem with my 42" Samsung Television model number HCM4216W. When I turn on the on button the timer red light flashes several times, makes noise like it's going to turn on but it doesn't and repeats this sequence over and over, and no pictures or sounds come up on the screen. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
