Sony KP51HW40 Need tech help Can't Post
Been working on this one a while now. It had an LED "error code" of 8 blinks, I found the problem but now have another LED error code of 5 blinks.
Im working with out a scope and projo's are not realy my thing, Im helping a friend of mine. Do any of the good tech's on here have any common fix's for this error? and can it be fixed without a scope? Need help need a tip!

Sound like you may have replaced the flyback, seems ran in to this a few years back where the ABL was messed up, theres a bunch of resistors R8192,93,94,95 and R8190,91 that fry when the fly smokes, might want to check these. Then theres R8225 that provides 200 volts that may be toast as well

Indeed you are correct, the fly was replaced, the original problem was it was totaly dead, also Q8035 Q8038 Q8036 and Q8037 (36 & 37 are surface mounted), After replaceing the fly Q8035 & 38 that restored power but it would still shut down with the LED code of 8blinks, then I replaced Q8036 & 37 which restored sustained power but the LED code x5.
I did check resistors and diodes around all those transistors and the fly but will check again and focus on the ones you gave me to check, I also want to try bringing up G2 but Im leery about it because according to the manual the adjustment is done with a scope and a jig, which I do not have, the jig I could make but the scope....Tongue

Ok I made a mistake, I found the reason for the 5x error, the connection from the splitter that connects to CN8016 was in a place that was easy to miss so it was never reconnected, when I connected it I found we still have the set shutting down and still have the x8 error code.
the folder says it's the fly but it along with everything listed in the last post was replaced. I did not attempt tp adjust the G2. And those resistors test good.
When the power button is pressed I can hear the high voltage start, but then it shuts down, there is audio, when that connector (cn8016) is disconnected the set starts up I hear it is reciving a station but no picture, the guns do not fire up. But the set stays on.
What else could it be?
