Sony Wega Rear Proj Problem

Hi
I cannot get my TV to come on.
It seems like it's stuck in Standby mode.
It is a Sony Wega Rear Projection model KP-FW46M31
116cm.
Symptoms:
When I switch on, I get a solid red indicator light.
When I press the Standby button on the remote (model RM-1015) the indicator flashes green for 10 blinks then back to red for exactly 10 blinks, and keeps repeating this cycle of 10 red blinks.
Up until today, if I pressed the standby button several times the picture would appear but the indicator would still be flashing red. At this point I could turn the TV off and on and the indicator would be back to green.
I'm hoping someone has accidentally changed a setting or something simple.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
