Toshiba TN55X81 Convergance Problem Can't Post
I have a Toshiba TN55X81. The convergance is way out of whack. I had a repair guy replace the Convergance IC drivers yet this did not fix the problem. He said it's the entire convergance board and they are no longer made. I actually really like the TV and would rather not replace it, not to mention it's nicely built into the wall and I don't want to have to rebuild my enclosure for a new tv. Any idea on how to track down a convergance board?

Search by the numbers on the convergence board itself comes to mind. Let the buyer beware.Wink

I think you mean "Convergence Output ICs" & not drivers....
That would be STK392-110 times 2....
IF he replaced ONLY the output ICs & did NOT check the B+ fuses for the ICs , that could explain why you STILL have the same problem & may NOT need the complete board....
The complete board is RARELY needed !!!!
Another area to check is the 1 &/or 2 watt resistors that connect to those ICs....


MY best advice would be to call another GOOD , reliable , HONEST & trustworthy TV shop & have those parts checked out....

Worse comes to worse , you won't/shouldn't have to rebuild your enclosure for another TV...
There are a lot of new sets/models that should fit nicely in the same space....

Very appreciate the info. Here's what I know.
Talked to the tech and asked him those questions. He said that the Red and the Green are out of whack and the Blue is fine. He was sure at fist that the IC's were out. He replaced those and the problem didn't change at all. He said it can't be the B+ fuse because they are all there and that the Blue is fine. As well as the resistors are fine because the colors are all there and if they were bad there would be no color at all or one of them would be missing.
The guy seems knowledgable and after working on it for 2 hours and replacing the IC's he only charged me the $85.00 service call because he didn't fix the problem. After diagnosing he said it can only be one thing, the entire board. Do you believe this is true?

I have a problem believing his whole story....
In brief;....
I'm not challengeing that the ICs were good OR bad....
I strongly believe they WERE bad.....

Because they were "there" doesn't make them good....
Thre's more than one fuse to check....
That's what a DVM is in part for....
Checking each fuse to see if it checks good....

This in a word is pure unadulterated horsepucky !!!
Convergence ICs have NO effect on color levels....
ONLY where each color lands on the CRT face which then winds up onscreen....

Keep this in mind;...I'm NOT saying that the above IS your problem....
I'm saying that a complete convergence board is RARELY the problem & that the above parts should be looked at before you mount an extensive search & spend a lot of money for some board that may/may not fix the TV....
