Toshiba ticking after STK fix Can't Post

took it apart and replaced the stk's put it all back together turned the TV on and the picture looked ok and eveything and set the convergence. but there is a ticking noise. it sounds just like when your cars spark plug wire has a short so i listened around the flyback but it almost sounds like its past it and a little bit farther.

i also thought it might be the heat paste getting hot and poping, but its as soon as TVs on and stops as soon as TV off.

the picture also has slight im perfections in it that are very subtle. the ticking is pretty constant but occasioanly it will skip a tick and be quite.

what do you guys think?

TZ50V61 is the tv model

Re: [Strange] Toshiba ticking after STK fix [In reply to] Can't Post

i made my self a little paper cone to listen in the tv to find the location (not about to stick a metal stephascope in there) and i narrowed it down to two circuit boards in the tv

theres the 3 little bulb projector curcuit baords on left center and right, and then right above the center bulb circuit board is another board, its one of the center boards

the center board has a small plug and set of wires running to each bulbs circuit board

wich one of these is my likly culprit to the ticking?
after listining very carfully it does tick a couple more time very slowly and faintly after tv is off

When you say bulb's I think you are referring to the CRT's (picture tubes) there are 3 of them (red/gree/blue). Sounds to me like you have an "arc" and I have seen this happen to the high voltage anode's. It could also be in the socket on that small board (CRT board). This kind of repair I would refer to a master tech who knows more then me, so hang in there, hopefuly someone who klnows more about this will get back to you.

i would imagine by now that people who look at these pages would realise that you are a moron.a retired tv guy and you a 15 year old kid thinks you can tell him and all these other tv technicians they dont know what they are on about that makes you a moron.a rear projection works on three projection lamps are you stupid why do you think they are called CRT rear projection tvs.i would suggest that before you come on these pages spouting your rubbish you should learn a hell of a lot more first and dont call people who was fixing tvs long before you were even born as you are just showing how much a moron you realy are

and i thought it said reply at the top of your posts or do you want to pick and choose who does reply, you see the problem is that you are replying to other peoples posts who are relying on expert oppinions they dont know you from adam so they dont realise that you dont know what you are on about so other people have to take issue with you before a tv gets scrapped on the say so of a 15 yr old moron.if you dont want people replying to your posts then just stop trying to give people who rely on good advice your basic knowledge of nothing.

Re: [ernie] Toshiba ticking after STK fix [In reply to] Can't Post

alright well i gotta get this tv working soon, my tv ive been using is starting to go out so its time for this big screen to quit taking and room and be a tv.

i talked to a tv shop and they said might be a bad capacitor, so i looked at all the capacitors on the 2 offending boads, none of them have buldging tops rust or spewed there guts...so that caps are good on the boards where the noise is from

another thing i thought of was maybe i got a slightly defective STK when i put the new ones in thats not quite doing its job, like telling the tv to do somthing it cant do outside its paramenters, cuasing a clicking, (anything like that possible?) the reason i thought of this is the tv will occasionaly pop out of convergence.

but maybe its the noise on screen cuase it to look like this,
if a crt is bad will it to click like this?
ahh im at my whits end. im just trying to provide you guys with as much info as possible to help me out.
thanks

Is it a High Voltage tick? Usually ticking on projection TV's after repair is associated with a ground that has been removed during repair and not replaced. Have you checked for loose or disconnected grounds to the CRT's or CRT Shield?
